Coronavirus. Already here?
Given the amount Chinese people that travel in and out of the country, what are the odds of the virus already being here?

Re: Coronavirus. Already here?
There are several strains/types of the Corona virus.
All have flu-like symptoms.
Some are deadlier than most.
The one currently in the news is the 2019-nCoV strain.

Re: Coronavirus. Already here?
All the preppers are so excited.
On a serious note this one seems quite bad, you are contagious for 5 days without showing symptoms, high fatality rate etc. Next Spanish Influenza?

Re: Coronavirus. Already here?
SARS only killed 800 people, that's statistically insignificant.
Normal flu, pneumonia, TB has killed tens of thousands in the same period.
Yet China has locked down over 50 000 000 people over a virus which can be survived with medical treatment.
This appears to be a reaction way over the top for a flu virus, unless the conspiracy theorists are to be believed and this is a virus which escaped their facility in Wuhan.
Could this be China's Chernobyl?

Re: Coronavirus. Already here?
More will die because they will neglect to take care of themselves after infection than directly because of the virus.
( Money spinner for those selling flu vax)live out your imagination , not your history.

Re: Coronavirus. Already here?
Every time I read about these viruses, I wonder if this is the big one.
I am no prepper or dooms day kinda guy, but I have come to the conclusion that surely we are well over due for a random fall of the die that is a really deadly virus.
There has never been a greater connected population, nor a more globally mobile population. We have larger masses of people in close proximity than ever before and they are North South and East West of the globe within 48 hrs, everything is just so set for a simultaneous intercontinental outbreak of some new virus or bacteria strain to hit the world - not one country, but the world.
If we had a virus with a long dormant period after infection and a very long too fatality period in this mobile day and age the long dormant period would get it around the world and the long period before fatality would insure further local infection at each outbreak.

Re: Coronavirus. Already here?
Our problem is in fact time, too much of it, right now it's summer here and winter there, getting it now would be much better than getting it 6 months from now. Now during the warm season your body will cope with it much better, but after 6 months the strains we'll get then will be much worse than now.
