I have a Norinco 1911 9mm, that I was getting what appeared to be excess pressure signs, eventually narrowed it down to excess headspace. Confrimed with being able to easily chamber 38 Super.

Ended up doing a barrel change and now have a Nowlin 9mm Ramped, and a bunch of other stuff... as my friends call it a Datsun with a GTR inside.
Depends on the manufacturer. The guns built as Open guns all seem to have enough freebore. BTW those Nowlin barrels are really nice.

For Production, definitely yes. For Classic and Open, no. However for Open a normal 1911 is also out - you need a 2011/Para obviously for capacity.
