    Default Whisky appreciation thread.

Do you like honey dripping in your mouth or the taste of a burning hospital?

I know the sin tax on alcohol is high, but a dram of the good stuff is good for the soul.

To be honest, never been able to taste any difference in any of them

I'd rather have a shot of diesel than Johnny blue haha

We did alot of tastings and I am just not able to get anything other than burn

Same goes for wine, they say it was made by virgins during a full moon, on an east facing slope, subtle hints of blueberry and chocolate, aroma of the forest floor after a light rain. I got fermented grapes.

But I am just a heathen

    Blasphemy!

You need to try a peated single malt. A Lagavulin 16 is my recommendation.

If he's comparing it to diesel and burn, a peated whisky is a bad idea. Something mellower and smoother and gentler is a better option - classic Speyside single malts, for example.

    Fact.

Burning hospital, that someone has tried to put out with wet turf.

Some drinks will give you hair on your chest... I prefer a whisky that will give you a beard in your throat

Scottish Single malts when the budget allows (If I open a bottle it doesn't last more than 2 nights, if I have Whiskey in my house, I drink it)

At the moment Im enjoying Tullamore Dew, Irish Whiskey in general is pretty good, much better than a Scottish blend

I savour my nicer whiskies. Cheapies go quick-ish, about 6 months on a bottle. Some I have at home have sat there for years, still not done. I don't drink a lot at all, though. I prefer variety over volume, so I generally buy a new type of whisky every time. I also run the office Whisky Club, meaning I get to taste some really nice whiskies with some really cool people without it costing me a fortune.

Best whisky is one you like to drink, the way you like to drink it.
