Yes if it means immunity or not as bad the next time after, not so much if you can get it again, maybe during the peak, and maybe worse - we just do not know.

Honestly. It would be foolish to invest in luxuries at this point in time. As the next 3 to 6 months is going to be hard on all. Restaurants, Retail, Building and Manufacturing is hit first due o lockdowns. IT and Finance places will still run and work from home where needed. Untill the ripple effect from he customers in frontline business not able to pay bonds, mortgages, rent and salaries gets pushed through to these financial companies not receiving income from the workers in frontline business.

Makes sense as yesterday they even showed on SABC news a wedding of like 200 guests. And then say but they not breaking the 100 people rule as only 7 people per table. This attitude of not adhering to the problem is causing this

The financial impact will be the worst. Essentials aside, spending is falling off a cliff. Even after, this may well have a longer term impact on consumerism.

I was just on Allan Gray. And logged in. All investments fell by 20%. Luckily the markets will recover over time and this will hopefully get corrected. But its alot of money gone at this point. Luckily I dont draw pension on it yet. Or have to start this year with it.

So my thoughts after seeing it goes out to all pensioners receiving pensions as it will be greatly reduced payments this month.

If in rand value then also need to add the 26% depreciation against the dollar. Anyone in rand investments has taken a major setback in real terms.

Well this is it.. I'm in sales and we are worried re this coming lock down if we will get paid and how.. but more worrying actually if what comes afterwards.. when things go back to normal.. there will be no normal as people won't have money to buy anything for a long while really.

Indeed. I think that this is the definition of a depression - a global, multiyear recession. The scary thing is that it is not beyond imagination at this point. Many have been criticising people panic buying....if the above plays out, it is very likely that they were doing the wisest thing out.

You can bet that if we do go into lock down this evening, buying things in the supermarkets will get a whole level more difficult, even after the first wave of panic subsides....

The real question you need to ask yourself is, do you really want to be stopped by SANDF with a car full of guns or an SLR?
I don't think a range trip is worth that drama.
