We dont need to be scientists to question things and come up with ideas.
Anyone is free to ask questions, and they should. But credibility is a thing. I'll trust a doctor's questions and deductions more than those of a sangoma.

I wouldn't go that far either.

We have been modifying microorganisms for decades. A fair number of medications, food flavourings, nutritional supplements, and chemicals are made with genetically modified bacteria and yeast. :)

Viral vectors have been in use since the 1970's. :)

There's no evidence for it. It's speculation, combined with internet sensationalism. The other story doing the rounds is that it came pangolins. Then there's the the bio-weapon theory.

It's much more likely that the true is simpler and less sensational than any of those stories.

Okay. Are you able to provide evidence to the contrary? Specifically what the "true and simpler and less sensational" evidence is.

That viruses have been manipulate and used since the 1970's as vectors for insertion of genetic material into cells.

While as a whole, they pose more challenges than bacteria due to their genetic material and lack of replication mechanisms, it does not mean that it's impossible to mess around with them in a lab.
