There's no evidence for it. It's speculation, combined with internet sensationalism. The other story doing the rounds is that it came pangolins. Then there's the the bio-weapon theory.
It's much more likely that the true is simpler and less sensational than any of those stories.

That viruses have been manipulate and used since the 1970's as vectors for insertion of genetic material into cells.
While as a whole, they pose more challenges than bacteria due to their genetic material and lack of replication mechanisms, it does not mean that it's impossible to mess around with them in a lab.
