    That it is and was good for, like I said it was a "end of days" gun to start with. The rifle was OK to look at, but all bad things that can happen to a rifle did happen to this rifle.

    What would work, would be to make a solution of citric acid and water and let the barrel soak in it for a few days.
    It should slowly remove all the rust.

    There is an interesting You Tube video of a guy in the UK that picked up an old .303 action out of a long forgotten junk barrel -- very rusted
    He used some special "muti" and managed to clean it all up and put together a nice Lee Enfield from bits and pieces

    So now that you are over the fly hunting, or the barrel on your a-salt gun finally rusted all the way through, and I managed to finally get a JSB TEST box of pellets...
