Default Why No 7.62x51 SA Surplus Ammo In Smaller Quantities

Why do we never see 7.62x51 South African surplus ammo for sale in smaller quantities by our local shops?
Americans love buying the stuff (though if I read correctly that came to an end).

Say for instance we don't want to buy the Norinco 500/750 round tins, why do we never get these 140 round packs up for grabs? Am I just late to the party or are they still available?

They were to the best of my knowledge only seldom available to the public.

Seems like 7.62x51 Ball SA milsurplus is not available anywhere - either in packets of 20 or bulk. When I collected my FN FAL from Classic Arms last week, the guy assisting me said they do sell loose Norinco 7.62x51 milsurplus rounds, so one does not have to buy a full tin, but at R8.50 a round it is not particularly cheap.

Try Tactical HQ, they had Norinco 7.62x51 for about R6 a round IIRC.

About 12 years ago someone imports lots of SA 7.62x51 in metal ammo cans to the US. I bought 4 cans at the time. I seemed to remember they had 1260 rounds per can and they were in 9 sealed battle packs. Some were 1980 and some were 1981. The headstamps were R1A1 with the date. It was very good mil surplus. I still have 3 cans.

The way things are going it will get used soon.

Thanks that's a good price. I shall try them for the next refill.
