The old way ..
I imagine one could obtain hi-res aerial photography of the farm
Print and overlay a military grid co-ord system
Use a prismatic magnetic compass ..
The way it was done BC -- before computers and GPSr ( GNSS )

Downloaded it and not too impressed, the resolution is just so poor? What am I doing wrong? We have a open velt plot across from us, and I can see the tree's and larger bush's, but rocks and anthills are by no means visible.
I can not even make out car type in yards.

Which Map Source are you using? You might be expecting too much from it, but al Zoom level 17:20 i can see what i need to see. Not all areas have the same level of resolution.

At Zoom Level 19:21 Ican pretty much start to make out make and model of ca, or at leash make a good guess at some.

Any good Garmin GPS with a built in compass will allow you to project a waypoint a certain distance .
This with a rangefinder should get you really close.
