Default First EDC - Glock 19 vs Glock 43X

    Howzit Gents.

This post is targeted at anyone who has either swapped from a Glock 19 to a Glock 43X or owns both, but any opinions would be much appreciated.

Looking at buying a pistol for EDC and have narrowed it down to the above (have spent range time with both and shoot them more or less the same). I'm a relatively small oke and would be looking at carrying it AIWB with a spare mag. I got an opportunity to test fit a Glock 19 in an AIWB holster and I am able to conceal but it is very dependent on what I wear. I haven't had the chance to do the same with a 43X and holster yet. This is where the 43X and my question come in - is there a noticeable enough difference in the width of the 43X that makes it more concealable* and would warrant choosing it over the Glock 19?

    * I know concealability depends more on the grip length than the thickness but I am not a fan of shooting short grip guns such as the Glock 26.

    Cheers
    Justin

Shield arms makes a 15 round mag for the Glock 43x and 48. It's not in SA yet, but hopefully it will come soon.
Seems pretty reliable from the YouTube videos. So possibly a chance of having the same rounds as a 19 if it does come to SA.
I think the 43x would be way easier to carry every day since it is thinner.
You need to consider the holster Making the 19 thicker as well. So I think all in all, the 43x would make a difference.

The 19 used to be the answer to most questions.

Nowadays I find myself leaning towards the 48 as the answer.

But not with aftermarket mags, thanks.

Loads of people still use pmags. So I think I'll be willing to try the shield arms mags as well.

Rather compare the G48 and G19 as they are practically the same in other regards except for the width / weight.

You get the same barrel length, sight radius etc.

I've carried a G19 for the last 6 years and got myself a G48 near the end of last year

How are you finding the 48? Much easier to conceal?

Some I know and who actually breaks guns has ordered some for his 48. Lets see how they hold up.

Sorry for hijacking, did they order the shield arms mag? If so do you know from where? Would love to find out more about the process... Would like to order for my 43x to play around with.

    Not licenced yet.

Based on trying a friends on, yes the width makes a nice difference in concealability. It's not just the few mm smaller, but the holster is thinner so the belt is bulged less and the grip can angle into the shape of the body more easily
