    Default Hunting/Fishing Alaska

    Hi

Wanted to know if anybody has some advice on hunting / fishing in Alaska, this is a bucket list item for me and want to start planning a trip to take my son, we are looking at going 2026 when he turns 16. Yes it is still a long time but I recon planning is everything.

In short I see you can make use of the state run cabins and air taxies.

This is more or less what I am after, flying into Fairbanks, getting a taxi to a remote cabin for a week or so. From what I can see points to consider:

    - Air taxi cost
    - Cabin cost and booking
    - Guide or somebody with local knowledge
    - Rifle, do I take my own or rent one in country
    - Hunting permits / tags
    - Meat, I see they are quite strict that meat must be taken this can escalate the cost of the taxi
    - Time of year, it seem beginning of Aug seems best

    Thanks

I am not 100% sure, but with you being a non resident alien in Alaska, you are probably going to have to do this through an Alaskan hunting outfitter.

    Start here:

Everything from permits to guides to transport. Lots of reading get a cold bier.
