Quick question, a friend of mine has the S&W MP Sport 2, is it possible to remove that factory front sight? What would the process be and what would be required to actually do it parts wise, as far as I know the gas key is part of that front sight?

Well if it's to fit a longer free floating hand guard, there are 2 options.

You need to remove the entire front sight gas block by driving out the roll pins and installing a low profile gas block, or you could cut the bayonet lug and front sight post off.

It must be noted: The original M&P Sport 1 used roll pins that were driven in from the opposite direction to what is the standard on AR15's, something to note as I'm unsure if the M&P Sport 2 is the same.

I did the latter on my M&P Sport 1. That was about 12k rounds ago.
I am going to be replacing my barrel on that gun in the near future and have already purchased the adjustable low profile gas block and mid length gas tube for the new barrel.

Posting pics is an absolute headache!! The easiest way to do it is to download the TapaTalk app and find the GS forum on there and it automatically adjusts the photos size, hence allowing you seamlessly upload photos!
