    Default Transporting a game carcass.

Is it legal to transport a game carcass from a game reserve into the city during the lockdown?

I suppose, the question would be are you delivering an essential service, and if so, have the required permits.. Just my opinion..

Just sent you an email which may shed light, but the short version is probably "tread carefully"...

Probably legal to supply a butchery, since it's food.
Probably illegal to deliver to a private person directly if you yourself are not a food supplier.

If you are talking about yourself(from your location to), then PM me.

Thanks, it seems to be a grey area which is best avoided.

    I did it last week.
Animals were culled. Showed the CIPC Certificate for the Company and the Annexure 2 letter, plus the usual Carcass Transport letter. Was let through the 2 x roadblocks straight away

Was the meat transported in a refrigerated trailer/vehicle?

      • Part of a communiqe from SA Hunters regarding movement of game carcasses.
      • Hunting for sport and recreational purposes is not permissible (en ek weet nie een van ons beskou jag as `n sport of ontspanningsaktiwiteit nie)
      • A culling operation is permissible subject to the following restrictions
        • May be conducted during the curfew time frames
        • A maximum of 12 persons per culling operation (relating to shooting, recovery and slaughtering personnel)
        • A maximum of 3 persons per vehicle
        • Persons participating in the culling operation may be provided with accommodation

      • Carcasses or venison/game meat originating from hunts or culling operations may be conveyed, moved or otherwise translocated across district, metro or provincial borders, provided that they are conveyed, moved or otherwise translocated as cargo.

    2. Op Bladsy 19 onder die opskrif “Selling or otherwise trading in, donating, giving, buying, receiving, accepting as a gift.”
      • Selling or otherwise trading in, donating, giving, buying, receiving, accepting as a gift of venison or game meat is permissible provided that the sourcing of such venison/game meat complies with the requirements of the Meat Safety Act, 2000
      • Selling or otherwise trading in, donating, giving, buying, receiving, accepting as a gift of carcasses or unprocessed meat is permissible, provided that it is for essential purposes
      • Selling or otherwise trading in, donating, giving, buying, receiving, accepting as a gift of dead specimens other than carcasses unprocessed meat or venison/game meat is not permissible

Eina, I believe it goes further than the night in jail and confiscated game meat...since this will be seen as a criminal offence the chances of them loosing their rifles as well may be on the cards...hope they have very , very good lawyer...
