    Default School skyfskiet 22s ?

A random thought popped into my head tonight after several beers, what happened to all the very fancy and expensive Anschutz
22's we used at school for target shooting back in the day (25 years ago in my case) there must have been thousands in circulation, my high school had about 30.

I remember those rifle being really good quality, would love to own one today, were they sold, destroyed or are they lying in a safe somewhere?

Most were destroyed. Still a few BSA's around.

AFAIK those weapons belong to the military and were returned. What happened then I don't know. Maybe there is a safe with thousands of those somewhere in Lyttleton

Returned to the branch of the military that sponsored your school. Then destroyed for the most part.

Interesting, I wonder what models they used.
I have an Anschutz, a friend of mine saw it and said it's exactly like the ones he used at school. Only stamping is 64 proof stamp, Cal .22 long and proof stamp and then serial number.
Shoots well but a very basic rifle, not chequering or anything fancy. Also a very lousy trigger.

Add, not even a recoil pad, just crescent butt with some ribbing.

    Hi Eon,

Have a look at Classic Arms auctions. Usually with each auction there is at least one or two 22LR target rifles for sale. Mostly BSA but you get the occasional Anschutz or Walther. Got my Walther from them, epic lil gun with great trigger - not sure how it compares to Anschutz as I have not shot one of the school target shooting ones in about 20 years

Anschutz model used by school cadets was the model 1403 which is very similar to the model 64.

The Martini actions used bofore them was the BSA model 12 for general target shooting and the BSA model 12/15 for competitions (usually only the first teams).
