One would have hoped that the aborted 2016 DMG Nationals would have been a lesson learned...

Yeah, a bit in the middle of erm.... Ermelo

Just showed my wife the dates, she said well I guess we can go to all of them except Ermelo, Sounds dry, flat with snakes.

Accommodation in Ermelo is a bit iffy. I have 4 guys that travel throughout the country, and Ermelo is near the top of worst bed and breakfast spots.

Ermelo is surprisingly big and only 2h from JHB or PTA. Not been to their range but been in the area many times. A lot more appealing than going to Komatipoort.

This suits me very well, the guys to the south not so much.

Respected sport shooters has visited and participated in events held at Ermelo (Vlakfontein shooting range) before. And they all enjoyed it immensely. Accommodation just like in any town or City in SA, can be good or bad. There are dozens of B&B and lodges to choose from. Snakes, yeah we have snakes. They travel through the platteland to get to their destinations away from the city's haste

It's different, it's the country-side. But the shooting range and the people running it does not have to stand back for anyone.

I followed a snake through the parking lot to under my car at Kraaifontein the other day. Couldn't persuade it to come out from under it. Very gingerly drove away and was happy to see it slither off under another car. Was only a Mole snake.
