Zastava 458 win mag
Finally, after years of waiting( almost 2 years)… i have my left handed zastava 458 win mag in hand.
This is now my primary guiding rifle for backpack trails.
I had the stock shipped to me when i bought the rifle, as many will know that the stock stocks that come on zastavas are not the smoothest or prettiest around. So i got myself a bottle of tru oil and spent a good few saturdays sanding it down, oiling it and making it look a little bit more snazzy. Some pictures attached to show the results.
I still want to have some work done on it, replace the ghastly cross bolts, and change up the iron sights for an express sight and ivory bead. Other than that im very happy with the rifle! Feeds great out the box.
Took it to the range with some 420grain impala solids running 2100fps, and killed a few bullseyes offhand at 25m… looking forward to shooting some walking spec 500grain dzombos soon. It is a very light rifle, so my shoulder should have fun.
Sorry, brag thread off

Very nice. Reminds me of my old BSA 458 years ago. Perfect walking rifle, very light and kicked like a donkey. Those days there were only two choices soft or solid 500 grain. Velocity anything between 1200fps to 2100 fps. All Winchester cartridges if I remember rightly.

You missed a spot. It shows up dull just where the trigger ...
Just joking
Beautiful rifle - enjoy!

Try the 480gr Dzombos. Worked like magic in my 458WM. I moved over to the 500gr when I converted to the Lott.

I am green with envy! Especially since my licensed 458 Lott is languishing in a gun store safe due to our wonderful CFR.
Very good looking rifle. Hope you will make many fond memories with it.

Sjoe superb work there! Lovely looking finish. Can you give a quick overview of the sanding / finishing process as you're making me think its time for the 243 stock to get some love?
