Re: CFR's IT contract cost woes.
Sadly I believe they are paying people to put together a system that they are unable to manage or even plan properly.
Same thing happened with our wonderful eNatis system that was terribly under specced and fell over the moment it went live.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the R341 Million is just the tip of the iceberg!
Give me that sorta cash and I will put together a UBER system running fingerprint recognition, full redundancy and the whole nine yards.

Re: CFR's IT contract cost woes.
It’s like any government department, a few bucks, a Merc or 2, even an all expenses paid 30 day trip to the World Cup in Germany gets exchanged.
The new system costing 1000 times more that the existing one is forced to be developed and deployed.
And 3 years later it still doesn’t work and they resort to the 1st working one.
Millions wasted and no one held accountable for the mess.
Have seen this first hand...

Re: CFR's IT contract cost woes.
Chrisvw, couldn't agree more.
Although in this case it's highly unlikely we would go back to the FCA of 1969, it would be a nice thought :)
Just wish GFSA would admit that the massively over complicated system that has been a black hole to tax payers of this country is failing in that due to it's painfully long "administrative tasks" has opened itself up to corruption, negating the whole need for "stricter firearms control"
