I am toying with the perhaps flippant notion of buying a Desert Eagle chambered in .50AE.

I am considering it purely for its ridiculousness and curiosity of owning a 2kg 12.7x32mm gas operated pistol. I am wondering if the dudes in SA had any "time on tools" to advise of any pitfalls / general experience with the type.
