Looking for one particular rifle in the PWV-area ...
Good Day Folks,
I truly hope that someone can give some advice!
Someone whom I do not know and have never met gave a legally licensed hunting rifle to ABC as a gift.
Said unknown person also booked it into a gun shop, presumably in the PWV area, pending licensing.
ABC passed away unexpectedly a short while ago, and the executor of the estate needs to find the rifle as well as the current legal owner. No-one in the family knows who the donor of the rifle is.
The only known fact is that it is a Sauer Mod 90 in 30-06 with a telescope.
How does one find such a rifle?
- Call all the gun shops in the PWV area?
- Where do I find a list of these? The last list I found dates from 2008.

There should be a SAPS271 form somewhere with all the details.

The executor only knows that the rifle was gifted to ABC, and handed in at a gun shop. The time until ABC's death was most probably too short for a license application.
The terms of the hand-in are unknown i.e. whether it was booked into dealer stock, or whether it was simply handed in for safe keeping.
Therefore it is unclear where to start the search.
The DFO should be able to look up Sauer Mod 90's in the area,or not? And at least give a printout of some kind?

Good news: ABC's phone was found. A number of the original owner is available.
