I mainly use N690,these are 6mm thick.
The tangs are threaded,and I attach a split thread bar to that via 3mm pins.
This assembly threads into the handle tube.
I make everything in house from steel stock,quite labor intensive,a lot of machining

the blade will break long before the handle/blade interface.
i've been doing HH knives for a few years,and i've tested the knives in "normal" use,viz,chopping batonning,gouging with the tip.
i "draw" the hardness on the stub tangs and spines of these knives,even though i use stainless alloys.
