Not so much EDC as Every Day Boot, but what do you have in your car?
Just finished repacking mine after the last service, and here's what's in the spare wheel well:
- Spare wheel (Recently checked) with manufacturer-supplied jack, spanner, and screwdriver
- 2x collapsible emergency triangles (It's tragic how other motorists will drive around them, come stop right behind you, and then hoot at you for not moving at a multi-lane intersection
- 2x Emergency tyre sealant & reinflation cans (In case the spare is needed on the long road and Murphy strikes again)
- Jumper leads (Depressingly short, last I used them. The cars had to be positioned with batteries practically touching)
- Tow strap with U-bolt shackles (Never needed it myself, but once loaned it to some people who were trying to tow with a makeshift wire cable that had stripped)
- 2l distilled water (For emergency drinking or a radiator, as needed)
- 2x bottles of oil (My car needs topups between services, so they get rotated)
- A bunch of nitrile gloves (So I don't get completely filthy if putting on the spare, spilling oil, etc.)
- Box of assorted fuses (Never needed so far, though my previous car popped one or two)
- Cable ties (A dozen short and a bunch long)
- Ratchet tie-downs (Last used when I had a trailer)
- Small roll of nylon rope (Also used with the tailer)
- Reflective vest (Because not getting hit by cars at night is always nice)
- Elastic luggage straps with hooks
- Kitchen towel roll
- Roll of loo paper
- Small pack of tissues
- Stanley knife
I should probably add a few heavy-duty cloths, maybe some leather work gloves, and a few heat-insensitive first aid items.
What do you EDB?
