One of my favourite views in the World.

Lago Sorapiss, a most amazing view.
Haven't climbed the peak yet, but it's on the list - it is called Dito di Dio in the Italian Dolomites (2,603m). The lake to me is the special part of this location. It is fed by the permanent glacier above. About 300 metres away is a mountain hut, Rifugio Vandelli.
I had a swim after crashing down the gully on the RHS. It was painfully cold !
I have walked there on two of my trips - once via the popular route to the hut and the second via a very long via ferrata route over the mountains.
Worth every drop of sweat to get there.

That is indeed beautiful!
Skiing in the Dolomites is still on my to-do list... might have to add hiking in summertime too!

I missed some of the replies. Glad other people like that view.
The Dolomites are fantastic. I've never been skiing, there or anywhere. That must be special too.
I have done 3 summer climbing trips there and it has been absolutely mindblowing.
I used to be a really good rock climber (never done much big mountain stuff). Now, in my early fifties, the via ferratas have allowed me to go where I could no longer go as a "has-been" climber. Just being in the mountains and ascending some 3,000 m peaks was special. I'll be back there as soon as finances allow again. Treat it as training for Mt Kenya which is on my bucket list !

glacier lakes are one of my favorite places to swim.
If you ever come to the States let me know. I have climbed lots of routes in Yosemite valley since the 1970's.
I can send you to the right places.
My favorite route, The Cow, on glacier point apron was destroyed in 1996 by a massive avalanche. The 900 zillion ton granite boulder at the top of the route that looked like a cow broke away and fell 2000 to the valley floor.
