I strongly resent the implication that I said the vaccine is useless. At no point will I try to convince people to take the vaccine or not. There is good empirical evidence that it is making a difference in mortality in countries with a high vaccination rates, i e. UK and Isreal. There is also doubt as to what the long-term effects of the vaccine are. I am always on the lookout for more data. I do have a bugbear for people that deliberately "misunderstands" data and then try to convince others that they are correct. To twist my words to suit your agenda is taking it too far and I will push back.

It was a statement, disguised as a question, that you attributed to me, personally. Hence the "deliberately obtuse" statement.

Actually, my exact words were "They say the Delta variant causes a higher viral load in infected persons, vaccinated or not." With critical thinking you should have realised that this referred to higher viral load than other COVID variants in infected people. Also, I referred to "they", i.e. the authors of the article.

Not quite. The vaccine is first and foremost supposed to prevent infection. Research and studies have shown that some of the vaccines are between 60 and 95% effective at preventing infections. At least, for variants currently in circulation. On so-called "breakthrough infections" it is supposed to reduce the severity and mortality of the disease. Case in point is the situation in the UK and Israel. As a bonus it is supposed to reduce transmission. In this case, the article, and the research it refers to, points out that the viral load in sick, vaccinated persons are similar to sick, unvaccinated persons. As such, the transmission potential is the same between sick vaccinated and sick unvaccinated people with regards to the Delta variant. This also explains why the US CDC changed their recommendation on mask wearing for vaccinated persons.

Vaccine = fucking useless
This statement does not take into account the people not getting sick due to being vaccinated. High viral load in the nasopharyngeal spaces does not equate severe disease. So, this does not mean the vaccine is useless. The article did not say the vaccine is useles, neither did I.

Re: Will you be getting a COVID-19 vaccine?
Just a thought. People on here trying to bully or manipulate other people into taking useless shots are like our minister of police and his cronies picking 'facts' from research conducted to prove why disarming us is in our best interest. Also with the same superior attitude :)
Re: Will you be getting a COVID-19 vaccine?
If one buys into the concept of organized vaccination then respect for persons' choice is integral.
Re: Will you be getting a COVID-19 vaccine?
The basic principles include respect for individuals, the right to make informed decisions, recognition of vulnerable groups, and more.
The Helsinki Declaration seems to be shat on by the bullies.
Re: Will you be getting a COVID-19 vaccine?
But Fauci said that doctors do have a duty to care. That's the reason Remdisivir became part of the treatment protocol.
But sheep muti is very dangerous, so would be unethical to inflict unnecessary harm on sick patients.
Now he is qualified, highly respected and science driven. Could he be wrong?

Do you see any of that behaviour on the 'other side of the aisle'?

The medical experts also said there was not enough evidence that a compulsory vaccination was necessary “at this stage” and that receiving vaccination was legally mandated.

None at all. Behaviour from the other side can not be seen as bullying for a start. It is more in the realm of self defence and advocating personal freedom and choice. Their facts are also coming from a broader pool and are not being picked as such I think. The two sides have an opposing mindset and worldview.
Personal punches being thrown are about even I think :)

.
So vaccinated or not, Delta variant has the same effect on people?
