If you could only pick one
If you could only have one SLR for sport shooting (3 Gun/ Steel Challenge etc) and range fun, which of the following platforms would you go for:
1. AR-15 (.223)
2. AK (7.62x39)
3. AK/ Galil (.223)
4. FN FAL/ R1 (7.62x51)
5. PCC (9mmP) - AR, Ruger, CZ Scorpion, Beretta CX4 Storm etc.
6. Other (Specify)
Please state the reason for your choice.
New to the sport, so opinions are welcome. Thanks!

Re: If you could only pick one
CZ Scorpion:
1.) Can be licensed as handgun (in some cases), leaving room for SLR licensing without issues;
2.) Very reliable and trusted brand;
3.) Modularity, Magpul making lots of accessories;
4.) 9mm cheaper to shoot, easier to reload;
5.) Can be used in PCC as well as other disciplines;
6.) damn sexy :)
Re: If you could only pick one
PCC, ammo cost and versatility.
Re: If you could only pick one
Ruger PC9, CZ Scorpion then Ruger PCC.
In this order.

Good points. It is one sexy carbine.
Concerning point 1: I believe the loophole has been closed. Even if it's not, I would rather do a proper application as licensing takes forever now and I would not want to risk having it rejected for silly reasons.

Re: If you could only pick one
1. AR-15 (.223)
Never owned one (but sooo want to get one) but have watched a ton of Youtube videos :g: and listened to the opinion of those who have owned.
Low recoil, which means quicker firing, accurate, still packs a punch, ammo isn't as expensive as say 7.62x51, accessories should be easy to come by.
Re: If you could only pick one
Dave sheer had the Beretta CX4 Storm PCC's (Used) for like 6 grand, call them maybe?
Re: If you could only pick one
You say you are new to 'the sport', but which sport is this? The Steel Challenge I attend is handguns , .22 and shotguns afaik I've never seen anyone smoke and hope with a FAL.
I'd choose PCC (And I do shoot PCC ) because I am mostly a handgun shooter and grabbing a box full of more cheaply reloaded and compatible ammo is much easier in terms of planning
Re: If you could only pick one
I own AR 15 and CZ Scorpion
Can't remember last time I used ar.
It noisy, expensive and more cumbersome to handle than PCC.
PCC fun and CHEAP to use.

I do mostly tactical shoots at the Black Duck shooting range. Would like to get into Steel Challenge (the one at Cecil Payne and Guns@Work) and 3 Gun Competitions.
