Pump action AR style rifle
Good day everyone, I am thinking of getting a pump action rifle. I have been looking at the DM4P, Troy PAR, and the Vektor H5. I however would like something a bit bigger than 223. Is the 300 blk a good option? It would be for hunting and a defensive weapon.

I know someone with a Troy that is happy with it and the same with a Vektor H5.
300blk is a PITA. You will probably have to make your own cases from 223 cases and range will become a problem, depending on what distance you want to hunt. The little 223 case gives you limited powder volume for the 30 cal bullet.
This is what a mate has told me who has a AR in 300blk.

I had the Vektor H5 when they came out. So long time ago. Dont expect too much accuracy.

Re: Pump action AR style rifle
I'm sure that there is a steady supply of good brass out there, but as a cautionary aside:
A forum member recently got his fingers burned with 100s of so-called once-fired 300 BLK brass, that was purchased in good faith from a very well known shooting supplies concern, only to discover that the brass was almost entirely useless.
It was partially converted 223/556 brass, but which had neck-walls that were far too thick for use, without going through the pointlessly laborious outside neck-turning process for each and every case.
Caveat emptor - check your brass immediately after purchase.

Thanks for the replies, I was worried about 300blk ammo availability. The Troy in 308 does sound good. Which dealers would have this available?
