Which medium Caliber to buy/get
I have recently developed a need (pronounced "wish") for a small to medium caliber. My current 264 Win Mags barrel is shot out and will be converted to a 375 H&H. I further only have a 308 which I do most of my hunting. I have been looking for a caliber that can replace my 264. I am looking for a fast shooting caliber that can handle bullets from 120gr-160gr and should push the lighter bullets just past 3000fps. Recoil is not a big factor but if it can be mitigated it will be a bonus. The rifle must also be able to stabilise mono bullets.
I have had a look at the 7x64 which looks promising but online data is relatively limited but I have read that you can push the 120gr bullets past 3000fps. The 243W is too light and the 6.5 CM and 6.5x55 is a bit slow. I have also had a loom at the 300WSW and 338 WM but that again comes close the 308 and recoil and reloading components become expensive again.
The rfile will be used to hone skills but also for further shots.
Any recommendations will be appreciated.

Why not stick with another 264, you've got all the reloading kit etc? Or is it time for a change?

270 Winchester Short Magnum
My rifle likes the 130gr at 3200fps.
Norma advertises their 150gr @3100fps and their 130gr @ 3300fps. But find the rifles sweet spot and stick to that velocityA roaring Lion kills no game

The .270 win or .270 WSM, the 7x64 Brenekke, the .280 rem and the 7mm Rem Mag will all work. With the imported powders available now, the 7mm Rem Mag would be an excellent choice.

Re: Which medium Caliber to buy/get
The 7mm Rem is not mild in recoil.
The 7x64 does not have plenty of recoil. Components are relatively easy to find (same for 7mm Rem).
The 280 is on a par with the 7x64. Have heard that dies are not easy to source.
The 270 Win has a lot going for it. If you can get a tighter twist barrel it would help with shooting 170gr bullets.

You will not regret the Brenneke.
