.270 win will fill the slot perfectly with a good 130gr bullet. Its also very practical. If you like something more unusual then 6.5-.284, 6.5PRC, 6.5-06. The 7mm-08 is a great cartridge, but with a .308 already it might be a bit redundant, unless the rifles are very different set-ups. I think a regular .270 Win sporter with a 22-24" tube and shorter barreled 18-20" .308 carbine are a nice pair.
