Scanning the snippet of the article name I thought the article was about a taxidermist that shot and mounted two endangered animals and was arrested for it. Completely different content.

It does seem that he stuffed two animals - it's just that they aren't endangered.

Again, a R-5 used - where does one get an R5? If they had a R5; the 9mm could have been service pistols that were lost/stolen/forgotten or still supposed to be in a safe somewhere according to the register.
