Road rage situation and threatened with firearm

Road gets the better of everyone, even calm guys can get riled up, like everyone else says, drive away, never get out your car, avoid trouble at all costs.

Personally I would go give SAPS that okes plate, if they do something, they do something least its off your chest, you never know you could be saving someone else's life.

Lay charges with SAPS, he could just do this again and the next time someone gets shot. The other guy may lay charges against you, then he gets in to SAPS first with his version. As Massad Ayoob indicated somewhere, the first to tell their story, determines the narrative

If its only 2 people involved it gets to word against word. As the other guy will again say you were at fault. And tell his story in tat way.

Only advice is. 1. Try to avoid escalating these situations by wanting to proof your point or have discussion with another driver. 2. Get a dashcam even if a cheapy.

OP asked what he should do *now*, not what he *should have done at the time*.

And yes, this'll become a 'he said, she said' thing, although you know he had a gun (and how would you know that unless he'd drawn it?) But personally, I'd want some consequence for chops who pull guns on people on the side of the road after a traffic conflict, at least make them think twice. One day my children will be driving on these roads. The fewer assholes, the better (bit of a tough job, but hey, start with one).

So it ends up as an investigation after you go to the cops - he says he pulled his gun out because you got out of your car, you had a gun and he felt threatened. Then what?

Or he may already have your reg number and have been to the cops and told them you got out of the car and threatened him... you can't polish a turd pal. This is why you leave arseholes alone.
