Often been tempted by the storm compact. So many good reports on it.

The PX4 storm is not striker fired and CZ makes a couple of hammer fire guns. You say you are intrigued that no one in SA thinks it is a good gun , but you don't consider that there is maybe a good reason for it?

It doesn't make a summer but it does make for a good relationship whether long term or very short for the night... 😂

Good luck with your new Taurus.
I see you are wiser than some that steer clear from the brand, enjoy giving it the benefit of the doubt.

Hopefully your licence application is speedy and allows you to get your new pistol into your hands quickly.
Consider buying 2,they are a good price... It will be double the fun...

That way you have parts to strip from when the one breaks...and it will at some point as some brands do...

You should be OK up to around 500 or so rounds then the fun usually starts.
It may keep you anxious and awake at night knowing there is little or no backup and few parts available for your trusty FA.
Trust me, I know the road and walked the path.

I should have kept my previous FA at the time years back, but hey, who would have know in 97 that the shiny new compact pistol would fail later.
After all it was brand new, the stainless steel slide looked good, the polymer frame made for a light FA. I could carry it in my pocket when needed.
It was a far smaller and lighter than my 75preB I carried for years.

They look good, look the part and may even outshine some of the others for a while... BUT THEN...
    Baaam
Something breaks, the goose is cooked and you eat it on your own.

These plastic-framed Taurusses are really special guns, reserved for really special people. These special people are the ones who who refuse to learn from others' mistakes and insist on making their own to learn from (or not).

As a multiple Taurus owner myself (but not the plastic-framed ones), I have some experience with parts procurement. Fortunately I like playing with metal, making and welding parts and filing them to fit and function. I would not know what to do with plastic parts, as my hot glue gun has it's limitations. We have a computerized hot glue gun (3D printer) at work, so maybe that could make some parts when needed?

So buckle up and enjoy the trip! Africa is not for sissies.
