I bought a secondhand 8 shot Mossberg 500 with wood furniture for R3500 from Safari Outdoor in Stellenbosch. Excellent condition apart from a small scratch on one side of the receiver. If there's one nearby, it's definitely worth popping in and having a chat with the sales guys.

Try City Guns in Cape Town for Mavericks.

Never owned a shottie over 7K and that was only 1, the rest were 4/5 K things that worked fantastically.
That said, no one comes over to covet my shot gun.

Since you are asking for the wife rather than yourself, the answer is yes, all shotguns are budget shotguns.

All you need to do is that the story you tell her fits her budget.

Thinking about it; if you save up a bit more you might be able to pick up a semi auto Beretta 1301 if you look around a bit. They were selling new at that price just over a year ago.

But, of course, then you're going to need DSS.
