Yes, somebody 'babysits' the gun and ammo - City Guns were more than happy to assist.

They have a similar setup running at FBSSC.

Not the first time I've seen this suggested on this forum.

My information is that Sections 21 permits for local gun owners are not being approved and have not been approved for several months (more than 12 months).

The last one we saw was a while back and the only one I am aware of that was approved in the last year and this one was refused by CFR and approved on appeal by the appeals board and with very good motivation of international shooting event participation.

My last one was when Rosenthal CPT was still open. And I guess a year before they closed before that at least. Which will put it around 2017 or 2016.

I have done 2 of them, both approved.
But have heard the same info that Locals are being denied. CFR wants you to wait...

Would foreigners in terms of permanent residence be treated differently?

Not sure.
My DFO believes that the Temp Permit is only meant for Foreign hunters/sportsmen visiting RSA for a hunt etc

Best to check with your DFO on that, although some think that their opinions is law....

Yeah some make up the rules as they go along. I have managed to get a few S21 in the past.
