Re: Carbine advise
As another option, consider a PCC (pistol calibre carbine).
Is will also tick your self stipulated boxes for centrefire shooting.
If you EDC a pistol and possibly do sport shooting with pistol, depending on the calibre, you can reload one calibre...?
More expensive than 22LR calibre but cheaper than 223 to shoot.
Reloading will bring you closer to the 22 price range depending on the components you use.
The pinking and family time is also included as a bonus.

Re: Carbine advise
I'm going out on a limb here and saying you're wanting an AR for the sake of having a long gun; presumably for HD?
You might be better served with the shotgun. You won't need DSS for it.
Of course, all of this assumes you've already got yourself a second handgun already.

Re: Carbine advise
Hi Peace Officer
i want a AR more for Tactical shooting if this makes sense ?
I am in the process of buying a Shotgun but will license it under Section 16 because i have the DSS already .
I only have one Section 13 EDC .

Re: Carbine advise
Peace has a valid point. A second handgun is critical if possible

Re: Carbine advise
At the risk of sounding like a doos, I would suggest you rethink your plan.
Feels like you need to spend some time researching and attending the various shooting events to see where you'd most likely want to use the long guns to compete. I'm not trying to put you off buying more guns but rather suggest better suited guns to buy when you're starting off.
A second gun, lots of ammo, and training would get you a lot further than buying a ton of different platforms right now when you're starting off.

Re: Carbine advise
Don't listen to these guys, get an AR15 as well as a second handgun. Problem solved!
Just kidding!!! But seriously if I had dedicated I would get an AR15 (I think you will feel a little underwhelmed if you get a AR22 rather than a AR15 once the initial joy of your first long gun wears off) over a second handgun first if my EDC was new and so presumably would last a while, especially if you want to get into sport shooting.
Though you can never count out your EDC being confiscated due to a shooting, so that is something to consider, so try and get that second handgun sooner rather than later.
Just my 2 cents and it really is 2 cents worth as my experience is not all that much.
