Section 14 license
Hi. I’m looking at licensing an assault rifle under section 14. Can anyone advice me on how to motivate it and how hard it is to obtain S14 considering I live and work in an urban area.

Re: Section 14 license
I don't know of anyone personally ever having been approved for said section. How are you planning on motivating a s14 SLR? You would have to display seriously extenuating circumstances. Like in an area with no active police/military presence, where ISIS militias are hitting your home with RPG attacks weekly.

Re: Section 14 license
Usual rejections as per SAPS docs for sec 14 are:
will probably be easier to get your DSS and sec16 it
Also dont forget to introduce yourself :)

Re: Section 14 license
Absolutely! The specific sections are there for a reason. S16 has a purpose and it is NOT meant to serve as the "if all else fails" just LIE and state that you are a "dedicated" sportsperson so that you can get a show off toy section!

Re: Section 14 license
Funny, I dont remember you at my last braai we even wore matching camo outfits and made PEW PEW sounds with our mouths
If OP gets his DSS and does the required sporting annual activities by his association he is not "fucking" anything up...
He is legitimately completing his DSS practical/written test, He is legitimately taking part in the required number of annual activities by his association and he is in right to apply for a Semi auto rifle.
Maybe I am of an unpopular opinion, but this mentality that you must shoot every 2nd day, get involved in every shooting activity, shoot all disciplines to get your DSS, if that was the reality then shooting associations would require you to complete 182 activities per year by a minimum of 4 categories, but they don't.
Peace out!
