You should be able to, considering the ammo can be "safely discharged" in a .22 LR.

You can legally as it can chamber and fire in your firearm.
Interestingly, my licence states .22, .22 long and.22 LR

You can not make out a big difference here. I blame it on the angle and cellphone. If you stood next to a wall the sound and difference would be amplified.
Also, CCI's short is not very different from CCI standard and sub for speed. It has less weight but that doesn't seem to make a big difference for sound or at least not without a silencer.
You can hear a slight difference between the 1st and 2nd shot. The 3rd sounds about the same as the 2nd. The 4th actually sounds a bit louder than 2 and 3.
With a silencer, shorter barrel or longer barrel the sound will be different so take it all with a pinch of salt.
