    Google info.

    The dassie has two upper incisor teeth which, like the elephant's, grow for life. In males these are triangular (those of females are rounded) and very sharp. So don't be fooled by its cuddly looks into trying to pet one.

    In the previous century while still pre-grad at varsity, some of the Mej. Matie contestants (before such things became politically incorrect) went for a photo shoot on Tafelberg. Whilst there, one of the young ladies tried to touch one of the "tame" dassies that hang around the touristy areas and prompty got bitten. The following week the campus newspaper Die Matie led with the headline "Skoonheid en die Knaagdier", which I've always thought was quite sharp...
