    Default 7.62x51 in a howa 308

    Hi

Does anyone else find that shooting 7.62x51 ammo through a 308 Howa causes the bolt to become 'locked' or very hard to open. All 308 ammo that I use doesnt cause this issue, the bolt opens and rrleases very easily but not woth the 7.62.the 7.62x51 needs quite abit of pressure to release

    Please stop Shioting it immediately.

A stiff or sticky bolt usually means the pressure is too high.

Some milsurp is really hot. What did you shoot?

Take a photo of the ammo headstamp.

Stiff bolt is too much pressure.

There's an 83 stamped on the top and 12 at the bottom

My guess would be PMP 7.62x51 1983 manufacture

That could PMP manufactured in 1983.

If you want to shoot it in your howa rather pull the bullets and reload them to safe pressures. The stiff bolt indicates too much pressure.

Perhaps a pic of the box and any label on the box would help. PMP mill surp is very good hence unlikely.
