Safe Inspection
After many discussions and a few range outing my mother has decided to start the journey toward becoming a FA owner. They have a safe, but I'm not too sure it complies with requirements, could anyone advise? If need be, I'm more than happy to just get them a new one.
Cheers,
SP

Re: Safe Inspection
Here are the requirements. Are your folks looking purely for hand gun storage? If so their safe will need to comply with Type B1 requirements (safe for up to 4 handguns and ammunition). In a nutshell:
-at least 2 mounting holes in the back wall or side wall (or both)
-mounting holes must accommodate a bolt diameter of at least 10mm
-door frame must have a rebate of at least 10mm on 3 sides of the frame
-floor, roof and sides must be at least 2,8mm thick
-door must be at least 5,75mm thick
-you must use bolts that are at least M10 x 80mm, with anchors. Washers must be at least 30mm diameter and 3mm thick
Those are the easy items that you can verify, but just check the attached document to be sure.
