    Default Dedicated status and relaoding

Good afternoon all. I am looking at doing reloading and getting Dedicated Status in Sport shooting so that I do not have to worry about the amount of ammo I may have at any given time. But I was told that a change was made to the Firearm Law of 2000 regarding restricting the amount of ammo you may have even if you have Dedicated Status. Can someone please tell me if the law did change regarding that or what the status really is as I can not see any changes to the Law. Many thanks

Law did not change. The moment you get dedicated status, then the 200 round limit as specified in the FCA does not apply to you as person. NO you do NOT need a S16 license to be dedicated. You can have as much ammo as your budged (or the misses) allows. This applies to all your licensed firearms, irrespective of under which section it was licensed.

Technically, as much as you can motivate. "on good cause shown." Section 91 of the act.

So, 5000 rounds for an IPSC shooter is just enough for good practice for a month or two, but you may have to answer some difficult questions if you are a hunter.

Our local GS won’t sell you more than 200 rounds unless your license is section 16.
Even presenting your DH or DSS accreditation does not help.

The explosive law limits you to 2.4kg of powder but dedicated allows you to have as much ammo as you want

I don’t think it’s necessarily the dealer being a dick. I know of two dealers who have been instructed by saps not to sell more than 200 without a s16 license. So I think they just might not want the fight

i may be missing something but if the law says no more than 200 rounds on a S15 why are we upset when the dealers won't sell us more than 200.

Because it also lifts the restriction if you have dedicated status
