If I have a drivers license for a truck, I am also allowed and in essence licensed to drive a car. If I had a car license, and then upgrade to a truck license I can drive both.

If I have a S15 license, I am allowed 200 rounds. If I upgrade to be able to have a S16 license as well I can "drive" with my S16 license (use ammo) for both.

Dedicated status is awarded TO THE PERSON.

The law says that the ammo restriction is then lifted.

You cant license a section 16 gun without FIRST becoming a dedicated shooter.

Now that im done shouting, a lot of dealers just roll over and let the DFO have their way.

Because the FCA doesn't say that.

It says no more than 200 rounds per license. It then removes that limit for people who have a permit for more ammo, DSS or DH. Nowhere is any license section mentioned.

The act also doesn't give SAPS (or FLASH in particular) permission to apply extrajudicial rules on dealerships legal business

Section 93. It refers to the whole of chapter 6 where all the license sections are mentioned. It then does the exclusion.

Agree with you Steven and SLR . What I’ve noticed is it’s only the smaller dealers that it happens to(prob easier to bully). SO happily sells over 200 with my s13 and proof of DSS.

Really? I enquired at SO Pretoria a few weeks back and they insisted that you have a S16 license for more than 200 rounds.

I asked because I was looking into doing the same as you (S13 with DSS).

SO Stellenbosch told me I can buy all I want with S13 and DSS, Wildman on the other hand needs S16

It depends on the DFO in that area. As irrespective if they are right or wrong. I believe they push their thought on ammunition sales onto those dealers.

Just say that you are a bad hunter and miss a lot, hence the need for lots of ammo.

Folks, please remember that (unfortunately) quite a few of the DFO's are either not properly informed regarding the FCA, or some are probably intently miserable. This causes them to bully gun shops.

Same applies to gun shops - not all salesmen are equal, or equally fair / competent.
