We do that in the RSA already. Violent people cant get guns at the application stage. Nothing wrong with that.

"that the Republican majority will focus on law enforcement failures, not tighter gun control"

    Nothing wrong with that either.
Nothing wrong with the government taking away guns from people without any legal process ? Do you hear what you are saying ?

Red flag laws infringe on gun rights. Who decides if a person is violent ? If a neighbor spots you open carrying and calls 9-1-1 saying they don't feel safe you now have a legal battle to get your guns back and are defenseless.

If a Democrat passed bump stock bans and endorsed unconstitutional red flag laws you wouldn't be saying things like "Well nobody needs bump stocks anyway" or "He was just talking about red flag laws, he didn't actually get to pass it" or "Well SA laws limits that already, nothing wrong with that".

You should be pointing out how they are infringing on the 2nd amendment.
Just like we don't let it slide when Biden wants to ban things that "nobody needs" like semi automatic rifles in his opinion, or when he just talks about laws that he might "not actually pass" like mandatory buybacks on certain weapons, or when he passes things which "we do in RSA already" like red flag laws, extensive lengthy background checks, heavily regulated limits on how many guns you can have or whether you can own a rifle, etc.

This, did Trump go through with what he said or was it just said for the camera.

I don't know, with Biden doing more speeches once he becomes president I just might be watching CNN and other mainstream outlets a little more. Looks like some good TV could be coming.

Yeah absolutely Trump also had some funnies, but you gotta admit Biden is just plain cringe worthy.

Trump was referring to the type of violent individual who killed 17 people and injured 17
others at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland, Florida:

    Warnings to law enforcement[edit]

Sheriff Scott Israel said that his office received 23 calls about Cruz during the previous decade, but this figure is in dispute. CNN used a public records request to obtain a sheriff's office log, which showed that from 2008 to 2017, at least 45 calls were made in reference to Cruz, his brother, or the family home.[98][99] On February 5, 2016, the calls included an anonymous tip that Cruz had threatened to shoot up the school, and a tip on November 30, 2017, that he might be a "school shooter in the making" and that he collected knives and guns. On September 23, 2016, a peer counselor notified the school resource officer of his suicide attempt and intent to buy a gun; the school indicated it would do a "threat assessment".[100][101][102]
In September 2016, three people—a sheriff's deputy who worked as a resource officer at Stoneman Douglas, and two of the school's counselors—stated that Cruz should be committed for mental evaluation.[103][104]
On September 24, 2017, a person with the username "nikolas cruz" posted a comment to a YouTube video that read, "Im [sic] going to be a professional school shooter". The person who uploaded the video to YouTube reported the comment to the FBI. According to agent Robert Lasky, the agency conducted database reviews but was unable to track down the individual who made the threatening comment.[105][106]
On January 5, 2018, more than a month before the shooting, the FBI received a tip on its Public Access Line from a person who was close to Cruz. On February 16, two days after the shooting, the agency released a statement that detailed this information. According to the statement, "The caller provided information about Cruz's gun ownership, desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts, as well as the potential of him conducting a school shooting." After conducting an investigation, the FBI said the tip line did not follow protocol when the information was not forwarded to the Miami Field Office, where investigative steps would have been taken.[107][108] The FBI opened a probe into the tip line's operations.[109]
The lack of response by Israel and other members of the Broward County Sheriff's Office to the numerous red flags and warnings about Cruz has been the subject of much scrutiny.[110] In the days following the shooting, calls for Israel's resignation intensified as more information that alluded to the department's inaction was revealed.[111] Since the shooting, Israel has declined to resign and refused to take responsibility for his role in failing to stop Cruz before the mass shooting took place.[112] In an interview with CNN, Israel described his leadership at the department as "amazing", a claim that was widely mocked and criticized.[113][114][115][116]

So ? Doesn't change things much. There should still be due process, which did not take place as "the FBI said the tip line did not follow protocol when the information was not forwarded to the Miami Field Office".

Removing due process doesn't help if you're just incompetent with the current backround checks and such measures that are already in place.

    Exactly:

"that the Republican majority will focus on law enforcement failures, not tighter gun control"

At least we agree on something

Thanks for that. Context does change the meaning somewhat.

Frankly, I agree with him, and probably for the same reason.

What I do find strange is that you see "bad orange man" as anti-gun. This man was considered so much pro-gun that there was no panic-buying guns and ammo during his administration pre-COVID. Gun and ammunition manufacturers were struggling. If it wasn't for COVID and BLM, more manufacturers would probably be in financial poo-poo.
