AK 48
Evening all you AK Guru's
Does anyone know or have any details about the existence of an AK 48 which was apparently an experimental platform between pressed and milled recievers?
Looking forward to answers

My Vickers guide does not have a reference to it. Ak47 type 2 and 3 had milled recievers. The type 1 and AKM are technically waht you describe though, as they have milled trunions riveted into a stamped receiver. You sure it's not a type 58? That's a North Korean variant as I recall.

Re: AK 48
I could not find any reference to AK48 in the book AK47: THE GRIM REAPER by Frank Iannamico which is probably the definitve work on the AK47.
There is a reference to AK46 which was the pre-production model to the production of the AK47.
