It would be nice if shops with ranges and red dots could have one to test. I am still too scared to do it.

Hi Meteor. yes, that's the problem, isn't it?

As it stands, I'm pretty much committed to the idea as the realisation that I'll never get crisp, front sight focus again, at least not without really expensive custom lenses, has made it for me.

The concept of being target/threat focused makes a whole lot of sense, both from a presbyopic and a defensive awareness point of view but until I get to actually try it out, that's still purely academic and I'm too inexperienced to be making bold claims and expensive decisions!

I wear multifocals and this is where the problem lies. The near focus/reader part of the lens is naturally towards the bottom. This means I have to raise my head, unnaturally to find and focus on the front sight.
The distance correction, being towards the top of the lens means a natural, head slightly down position allows for focus on the target.
As I understand it, one is focused on the target, bringing the dot to and superimposing it on, the target.

Just makes sense. But how to try before one buys?!
