Default Complete noob needs to clean handguns

So 3 handguns in the house. 7.65mm, 9mm and 9mm short.

    Would the following suffice:
    1. https://www.davesheer.com/cleaning-m...-cleaning-kit/ for both 9mm handguns
    2. https://www.davesheer.com/sheer-industries-32-auto/ for the 7.65mm handgun
    3. https://www.davesheer.com/cleaning-m...am-patches-38/ for the 9mm handguns
    4. https://www.davesheer.com/cleaning-m...am-patches-30/ for the 7.65mm handgun

Or should I get this instead
    1. https://www.davesheer.com/cleaning-m...to-50-caliber/ for all 3 handguns
    2. 3 and 4 mentioned above

    Advice would be much appreciated.

You need size specific brushes. Hoppes makes a bigger multi purpose kit which will be fine to start with. Hoppes no9 is good shit. Get a decent lube and you're good to go. Do some googling on where not to get lube.

You could order online as above or else go straight to Kloppers to see what they have.

Go upstairs to the FA section and ask for Hein to guide you.

They have a fair amount of items to choose from.

Much appreciated. I was actually there on Saturday and managed to finally buy 9mm short ammo. Factory reloaded stuff, but Hein said I could bring it back if the gun doesn't like it. They were quite busy in the firearm section on Saturday so didnt really want to ask and get a hurried response. Will pop around Monday morning again when its quiet. I saw they have the Hoppes stuff as well.

When your patches run out, you could buy more patches or just buy a roll of flannel and cut them to about 57x57mm for 9mm. If too tight or loose adjust accordingly. Search the net for other sizes.

Thanks for the advice. Do you perhaps know the measurement for 7.65mm (.32)?

Just an update, I got a 7.65mm kit which included the rod, brass brush and that attachment where you feed the cloth through it. Also had a few cloth patches and then some trisol three in one oil/lubricant/protector. Then got a pack of patches I cut to size as best I could, and a brass and nylon brush for a 9mm separately.

My wife and I cleaned our weapons for the first time on Monday night with the help of Youtube (to field strip her complicated 9mm short) and with the very helpful advice of @Fire-Stick. Took us a good 2.5 hours to get through all three firearms. But I think we did quite a nice job. Made a few mistakes. Learnt better ways of doing certain things. But its done. Going to the range on Friday to shoot, and then will spend Saturday cleaning them again. The trisol that came with the kit was VERY small though and I think its almost empty (that said I think we did sometimes overdo it), so will buy another bigger can (if such a thing exists).

Sorry only got 308, 12 gauge and 9mm sizes. The internet should have answers for you though, but don't take it as gospel, try it and if it feels too tight or loose cut accordingly. I recently bought a 50m x 95mm roll from Suburban Guns which cost R331. Works out much cheaper in the end than buying precut patches.

7.62mm is very close to 7.65mm, so just use the same size as .308win (aka 7.62x51)

Just get a bore brush (buy plenty of these), bore mop, jag, rod kit and some flannel. If you couldn't be bothered to cut up fabric, a large roll of paper towel also works. Nitro solvent? Acetone works better. Gun oil? Castrol LM for the bits that need grease, Q-IN-ONE for everywhere else. Cleaning is super easy too, a few squirts of RP-90, a quick scrub with and old toothbrush and blast it with an air compressor. Assemble, load, holster.

Edit: Shield Brake and Parts Cleaner also works really well.
