The cartridge thought by Ruger because the did not want to redesign their already on the market actions. Ruger and Hornady teamed up and made the 416 Ruger.
While we waiting to see if there is one in RSA (never even heard of one owned by someone) would you mind telling us why this cartridge appeals to you.
I can only think of its scarcity as a attractant over the more available offerings.

That said I always had a fancy for the 458 Canadian Magnum.(I think the name of many cartridges is a great attractant - - book and its cover matter)

There is a lot that is good about that particular model.

It is very short. It has a 20" barrel. It fits in a shotgun scabbard. For some, the perfect pig rifle.

The sights it comes with are excellent for open sight shooting, and if you do your part you will hit what you aim at from 7 out to 100 meters.

The Hogue stock absorbs a lot of the recoil, it is comfortable to shoot. I put a slip-on over the butt for a bit of extra padding, and to get the length right for me.

With a scope on it, it cloverleafs at 100 without even trying hard.

It feeds slick as snot, and I've never had jam or misfeed, even when applying speed.

It duplicates the ballistics of the 404 Jeffery.

To answer your question, treeman, the appeal is in the fact that it duplicates the 404 Jeffery ballistics.

The only thing I found is that it is sensitive to the bullet ogive - if the ogive is not right, it will be unhappy.

    And brass is kak expensive.

My request is on behalf of someone else who has had no response up to date. My Musgrave 375 is good enough for my needs.
