Swopping frames might be administratively a bit more challenging?

Welcome to GS and hope your application goes smoothly.

The Beretta APX is a good gun by all accounts. To my eyes it has several improvements over the typical Glock.

The reason I won't buy one has nothing to do with the pistol itself, but rather the poor after-sales service provided by the former importer. Normark may or may not give better service, only time will tell. Untill I see the spares (mags, recoil springs, sights etc.) in the gunshops, I will avoid them. Same goes for all other makes with poor or no service.

A defensive pistol needs to withstand significant round counts in practise and be ready to go to work at any time of day or night. That is why it will need spares sooner or later. A range toy on the other hand can wait a while for parts to arrive from wherever they are stocked. You may, or may not, lose some placing due to finishing a season with a spare or borrowed gun. Not really life threatening...

Nope. They're grip modules that attach to an internal frame, similar to a P320. So it's an unregulated bit of polymer, no license needed.

I own two (still waiting for one licence) Glocks and while they aren't the best looking they ain't all that bad IMO. Like I said the Gen 5's with the front serrations and slimmer front are an improvement.

Thanx for that. Had no idea. Will definitely google it.

Appearance is subjective. I actually love the aggressive look ;)

It's a Beretta, reliability will be unsurpassed. The recoil spring is rated for 20000 rounds. Everything else seems to have been designed for hard use. The grip feel is outstanding and the trigger beats any Glock. Glock sets the standard but this is very hard to ignore.

Berettas local support has been very poor in SA for many years.

Hailstorm was importing some service parts for the PX series because the local agents were not

We can hope the new agents improve service and support reliably

"Pretty" "Ugly" "Good Looking" etc etc

I don't give a damn how my firearm "looks" like. It is carried concealed. Nobody checks it out. Should I never need to use it, I doubt if an attacker is going to notice.

To the OP - Nothing wrong with a Beretta.

I use Glocks because I like them, I do really dirty work a lot and a dirty Glock keeps on functioning, I like the idea of excellent after sales availability of parts and service etc.

And, wait for it.... A Glock looks pretty good to me.
