.375 Raptor cartridge
Has anyone come across a.375 Raptor? I found this to be a very interesting cartridge that is based on.308 Winchester brass necked up to take .375 bullets and giving up to 3600foot pounds of energy. According to the literature it only requires a short action .308 rifle to be re-barreled to .375 Raptor. It fits into any standard .308 magazine. This cartridge is worth investigating.

Re: .375 Raptor cartridge
Somehow I missed the first discussion on this caliber. It would be a great cartridge for an 18" barreled rifle built on a short action. Ballistically it is close to lower end 9,3x62 loads, which means that it is probably running at full pressure. It would make a great bushveld rifle fitted with a compact low power scope.
But then, I have to ask myself whether there is anything I would take on with this caliber and rifle that I would not with a .308 win with an 18" 1 in 10 twist barrel loaded with premium bullets? The answer to that, in my case is no and the .308 is a far more practical choice. Not that all calibers and rifles need to be practical...
Neither the .338 Federal nor the .358 win (both necked up .308 win's) ever became popular. Maybe the .375 Raptor will be more successful due to the AR crowd but I doubt it.

Re: .375 Raptor cartridge
The cartridge is primarily designed for use in semi-auto's with a .308 bolt face, where it can either be loaded light and fast, or subsonic with heavy bullets - a much easier semi auto conversion to big bore than the .458 Socom.
Purposing the round in bolt action is just a side-effect. Like the .300 Blackout.

Re: .375 Raptor cartridge
Bottom line is, if I lived in a civilized cuntry I would certainly own one.
I still can not openly admit how much I love that old .303 that I cut down to 16" and shortened synthetic stock a inch + a old lynx 8 x scope. I went wild on it because it was just a old bastardized .303 with only a value in the action and not much value even in that part.
In the Addo bush velt it is just so perfect, I suspect a 308/375 would as nice, but with a bigger hole.

Re: .375 Raptor cartridge
Where would you source bullets over there for reloading this cartridge? I am having no luck this side of the Atlantic finding any jacketed .375 in the 200-250gr range for my .375W Model 94.
