Applying for an additional license.
I will shortly be applying for a license for a .22lr rifle. I want my wife to apply for an additional license for this rifle, both of us have S16 dedicated hunter status.
Does she need to wait until my license is approved before she applies or can we hand in our applications together?

Re: Applying for an additional license.
The application is done on the normal 271 form. See below discussion.

Re: Applying for an additional license.
Thanks driepoot, we have done this before but I want to know if she could hand in her application at the same time as me or whether it would be better for her to wait until my license is approved. I'm a bit worried that handing in both applications at the same time might lead to confusion at CFR.

Re: Applying for an additional license.
I dont think it should as everything is on one form. Use a paragraph in your motivation.
Mamma is alleen by die huis en moet die slange in toom hou. Selfverdediging.

Re: Applying for an additional license.
When I done my additional licenses the dfo told me the original license needs to be approved first. It makes complete sense to me as there can't be an additional license for one that does not yet exist.
As a side note, only one of my 3 additional licenses were successful. One was lost by SAPS after being in consideration for 9 months. The other one was wrongfully put on my name as if it was a normal app from a private sale.

Re: Applying for an additional license.
I hope the OP doesn't mind my post but i didn't want to start a new thread when there already is one with an applicable heading. My DFO told me that in the case if a dual license, the original licensed person must always accompany the additional license holder when using the FA in question?! That doesn't make sense to me, why then have a license like this as an option when that person can just shoot with the FA in your presence without it?!

Re: Applying for an additional license.
The additional licence is a full application
A normal licence
Except you tick the "additional" box on the form

Re: Applying for an additional license.
I always wonder: in whose safe is the dual licensed firearm because I may not have access to hers or she to my safe? Or do you get a 3 rd safe?
