Competency test
Hi
A friend of mine needs to re-do his competency tests.
He was retrenched last year so cash is an issue.
Does anyone know where he can have this done at a reasonable price in Alberton or on the East Rand

Re: Competency test
Is this CFR requesting the test to be re-done?

Re: Competency test
Yes it was the CFR. His licences had expired and he is re-applying under amnesty.

Re: Competency test
I dont think they mean re-doing the tests. He will have to apply for competency at the same time as the re-licensing application. Photos and R70 per competency per type of firearm.
He must just take a copy of the certificate issued by the training academy.

Re: Competency test
I did my training and test in 2005/6 being one of the first batch to re-license. In Dec 2019 I had to renew one of my shotgun licenses and did that before the 90 day period. In March I was phoned and I had to renew my competency and that was just one form, photo, proof of tests and the R70 fee.

Re: Competency test
His licenses and by definition competencies had expired.
He originally did his competency tests in 2005

Re: Competency test
This can get a bit complicated depending on exactly what competencies he did in 2005 and what paperwork he has to prove it, but in general terms they should still be valid and only require renewal, which is R70 & a bit of admin with the SAPS. If he still has his original certificates from the training provider it should be a simple process.
In order to give you a more detailed and accurate answer we would need to see the certificates as issued by the training provider and/or his SASSETA certificates.
PM me your email address and line up some scans of everything he has if you want an individual answer.
