IPSC Production Class best bullet weight
Hi there
Could anyone give me some advise(pros and cons) in choosing between 124gr vs 147gr for Production Class other than minor cost difference. G19 G4 is pistol to be used.
Thanks so much

It all depends on whether you prefer a snappy or less snappy recoil.
I found moving from a .40S&W to 9mm that the 147gr gave a nicer recoil.

Re: IPSC Production Class best bullet weight
I have read of (top-end) shooters that watch the slide during recoil, and feel they have to wait for the slide to move back into battery with the heavier bullets. If you operate at this level, a lighter bullet weight is advantageous as the slide cycles faster and gives you more time to aim if you keep your splits the same.
I am not shooting at a level where these issues are a problem. I have experimented with lighter and heavier (115 and 135 vs 124 gr) bullets, and settled on 124 gr. I have found the felt recoil to differ, lighter being more snappy as ady said.

The easy and simple answer (especially if you are asking this particular question) is... the one you shoot.
i.e. Choose one and get practising with it. That's most important.

Re: IPSC Production Class best bullet weight
I don't mind much in my heavier gun (Shadow) but found the 147gr preferable in my G19 compared to 124 at the same power factor. Performance vs perception vs cost though?
Some much better shooters than me like 135gr in 9mmP

Re: IPSC Production Class best bullet weight
I did not touch on the cost aspect - the price of 147s is significantly higher than 124, on the bullets I use (BC). R1.17 per bullet vs 94c.
If you get about 1700 rounds per tin of powder, the difference in bullet price pays for every second tin of powder. I admit, that played into my choice of 124 gr (I did my initial calculations before I switched to BulletCorp, and when S121 was still under R350 per tin).
