    Default AIWB wedges

    Hi all.

Anyone have any reviews and or opinions on wedges for appendix carry?

I use pieces of a solid pool noodly but the foam looses it's shape after a few weeks.

I have some closed cell foam (very dense) that I am wanting to give a go.

Anyone have any suggestions on the shape of the wedge?

Thus far the shape from Tenicur looks like a great option.

My holster comes with a wedge as standard and I can't imagine carrying AIWB without it. In my experience a wedge needs to be made from a rather dense foam or rubber material and it needs to be thicker at the bottom end of the holster. This is because the purpose of the wedge is to slightly angle the muzzle of the gun away from your body, so that the grip is pushed in closer, resulting in better concealment.

For ages I had a shoe insert cut and glued on and thought it was the business... then I bought a new holster from Daniel's when I started using a wml. His wedge is a hard, almost plastic thing and is far better then any hard foam diy anything have ever tried.
Imho i believe the harder the better for a wedge if I go diy again I would use polished wood over any foam or perhaps a rubber so dense you could barely put a mark on with a finger nail. I doubt I would go back to diy though.

Look at these for ideas - they become rounded and formed from use. I have been using some for about 4 years.

Thanks for the replies. I cut the pool noodle at an angle with fatter bottom. Makes a huge difference to cencealmemt and comfort.

I use velcro with the glue already on it. Sticks well to kydex and noodle.

That link looks like closed cell foam.

I've got two offcuts in going to try.

Maybe try a piece of old wetsuit.

Reason I like the pool noodle (just wish it was more stiff... 😅) is that it still allows a little breathing room.

Neoprene not so much. You'd also have to layer it. Some of use more than others.
